Job Description: Operate and tend bridges, canal locks, and lighthouses to permit marine passage on inland waterways, near shores, and at danger points in waterway passages. May supervise such operations. Includes drawbridge operators, lock operators, and slip bridge operators.
Bridge and Lock Tenders spend a lot of their time Controlling Machines and Processes. They are naturally good at Far Vision, Glare Sensitivity, Speech Clarity, and Control Precision. Bridge and Lock Tenders are typically characterized as being Realistic and Conventional. They are usually very knowledgable about Public Safety and Security, Customer and Personal Service, and Education and Training and are skilled at Coordination and Writing.
